FAQ

Common
questions

Everything you need to know about working with MediWaste Solutions. Can't find your answer? Call us directly on 072 215 7808.

Where does my waste go after collection?
All waste is transported to a fully licensed treatment and disposal facility registered with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE). You receive a certificate of destruction and full chain-of-custody documentation with every collection.
Are you GWIS registered and fully compliant?
Yes. MediWaste Solutions is a GWIS registered hazardous waste transporter. Our drivers hold valid PrDP(D) permits and Dangerous Goods certificates. All our vehicles meet NRTA requirements and carry the necessary TREM cards. We provide a compliance pack to every client on request.
What types of waste do you accept?
We accept all healthcare risk waste including: sharps (needles, syringes, lancets, blades), infectious and biological waste, pharmaceutical and cytotoxic waste, pathological waste, chemical waste, and general clinical waste. If you're unsure about your waste type, contact us and we'll advise.
Do tattoo studios and beauty salons need a waste collection service?
Yes — and many don't realise this until they face an inspection. Any business using needles, blades or injectables (tattoo artists, piercers, beauticians doing microneedling, fillers or semi-permanent makeup) is legally required to dispose of sharps waste through a licensed waste transporter. We make it easy and affordable for small studios.
How often will you collect and how do I set up a schedule?
Collections can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on your waste volumes. We start with a free site assessment to recommend the right frequency and container sizes for your facility, then set up a recurring schedule that works for you.
Can I see your licences and compliance documents?
Absolutely. We provide every client with a compliance pack containing copies of our transporter registration, driver certifications, and the disposal facility's treatment licence. These are available at any time for DoH or municipal inspections.
Do you supply the containers or do I need to source my own?
We supply everything — sharps containers, biohazard bags, rigid bins and pharmaceutical waste containers. Correctly colour-coded, labelled and compliant. We deliver them before your first collection and replace them at every scheduled pickup.
